I don’t pretend to teach people to write music, but rather to support their creative musical impulses, helping developing composers to add to their “toolbox” of compositional techniques. I also guide them to listening carefully and analytically to the music that they write. My goal is to help composers understand the practices of historical and contemporary music theory while also encouraging them to write music that is true to their own musical intuition.
